Our campus offers multiple historic properties for tourism, events, and more.
Galion History Center Campus & Office
The Galion History Center Campus is located on the four corners of the intersection of S. Union St. and W. Walnut St. Our office and archives are located at 201 S. Union Street in the Koppe-Skinner home built c. 1863. Our collection of photos, paperwork, city directories, yearbooks, and more are all available to the public for research.
Brownella Cottage & Carriage House Museum
Built in 1887, Brownella Cottage is a rare house museum. The home showcases its original furnishings and belongs of its only occupants - Bishop William Montgomery Brown and his wife Ella. Tours of the Cottage are available by appointment year-round and the house is open for seasonal events throughout the year.
Historic Grace Church
Built in 1875, Grace Church was located on the grounds of Brownella Cottage. In 1893, the Bishop’s mother-in-law, Mary Scranton Bradford, paid for the church to be moved to its present location facing W. Walnut St. The Historic Grace Church is our only building that is available to rent for weddings, meetings, & parties. Please reach out to us if you are interested in renting the Historic Grace Church.
Hayden-Helfrich Annex
Our newest museum space, the Hadyen-Helfrich Annex, displays our large artifact collection with a focus on Galion’s Industrial Heritage. Exhibits include Galion Iron Works 1922 Steam Roller, road graders, 1906 Galion fire engine, hand-carved hearse bodies from Kunkel Carriage Works, Galion schools & business memorabilia!
